Einstein's marble

Einstein sitting in front of a fantastic marble wall at the Parque de las Ciencias (Science Museum) in Granada.  This would be great as a backsplash in a kitchen.   I would pair it with wooden countertops, the subject of a future post.

Fantasy mudroom floor

The perfect mudroom floor!  In the Nasrid Palace at the Alhambra.  And then I'd make the patio area outside look like the bottom pic.

We Salute You Mattias Adolfsson

What a wonderful drawing!  I stumbled across this on an artist's blog at http://mattiasa.blogspot.com/2009/09/william-morris-i-salute-you.html.  The artist, Mattias Adolfsson, called this picture "William Morris I Salute You".  I love the fact that he drew it in a moleskine notebook as well.

The Alhambra, Granada

This tile pattern and colors would make a nice quilt design.
 "Morris and the Muslims"  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00lg9y0

"Morris was inspired by Turkish ceramics and Persian carpets to create a new movement in British design. For him, the Muslim world had managed to preserve the art of the craftsman and avoid the ills of industrial production. He espoused the philosophy that art should be affordable and hand made; this was already a reality in the Islamic world.
Not stopping at arts and crafts, he was a passionate advocate of social utopianism and believed in the rights of the worker. Today, these ideals have profoundly influenced a new generation of British-born Muslim artists, as they rediscover Morris and look to his artistic work and socialist ideas for inspiration."
